Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur witnessed a historic moment as the Sikh community of the city made history by electing Bibi Gurjit Kaur as the head of the Prakash Nagar Gurudwara Committee. This significant event took place on the 419th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Bibi Gurjit Kaur, a graduate from Ropar, Punjab, and a mother of two sons and one daughter, has emerged as a role model within the Sikh community. She is highly regarded for providing her children with a quality education through English medium schools and sending them to foreign countries, all while maintaining the sanctity of a religious home environment.
The Prakash Nagar Gurdwara, which was built by her father-in-law, Sardar Late RP Singh, is now under her leadership. Her appointment as the head of the committee has garnered praise and congratulations from various quarters, including the head of Stree Satsang Sabha, BP Rajan Kaur, and the former President of Central Sikh Youth Sabha, Sardar Satbir Singh Somu.
Kulwinder Singh, the head of the Baridih Gurudwara Management Committee, has also extended his congratulations to Bibi Gurjit Kaur and expressed the intent to honor her on behalf of the Sangat of Baridih.
This momentous occasion highlights the community’s recognition of the importance of women in leadership roles, echoing the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who emphasized the strength of women in his teachings.
Stree Satsang Sabha head Bibi Rajan Kaur and the entire team have congratulated Gurjeet Kaur on becoming its head. Here, as soon as the information about his becoming the head was received, there was a rush to congratulate him. While congratulating former head of Central Sikh Naujawan Sabha and bright young BJP leader, Satbir Singh Somu, he said that Bibi Jagir Kaur has become the head of Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee and commendable work has been done here too. Somu said that in the coming times this practice should be implemented in the entire Kolhan. Only then will politics and factionalism in Gurudwaras end and a better society will definitely be created. Baridih Gurudwara Management Committee head Kulwinder Singh has also congratulated Bibi Gurjit Kaur. He said that he will go with the entire team and will honor him on behalf of the Sangat of Baridih.
