Jamshedpur, April 3: Government teachers of East Singhbhum have expressed resentment over the newly issued school timing for the summer season. They have written to Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav to seek change in the school timing, saying the school timing of 7 am till 1 pm was impractical and not convenient for children.
“Due to the soaring temperature, children will have to go home in the scorching weather after 1 pm. As per the practice, the school timing has been from 6.30 am till 11.30 am. This way children will not have to suffer due to extended timing,” said Saroj Kumar Lenka, district general secretary of All Jharkhand Primary Teachers Association.
Lenka further said, “The education department had issued a notification for all government schools on 2nd April 2021. As per the notification, the new session of the schools was to start from July. On 1st April last, the Project Director of Jharkhand Education Project sent a letter regarding extension of the current academic session till June 2022.”
Sunil Kumar Yadav, district president of the Association, said implementing the new school schedule from April was not justified since it is supposed to start from July.
