Jamshedpur children fall sick after drinking expired cold drink

Jamshedpur, April 3: Six persons including five children fell sick after reportedly consuming expired cold drink in Kasidih here on Sunday.

Sources said all six persons had purchased the cold drink from the same shop. After drinking the cold drink, the victims started vomiting and complained of stomach pain. When they were taken to a nearby nursing home, they were told the root cause of the ailment was the expired cold drink.

Later, the family members of the patients reported the incident to the district administration. The administration officials said they were probing the matter to identify the persons responsible for the availability of expired cold drink at the shop. They said action would be taken against the cold drink supplier if he is found guilty of supplying outdated cold drink bottles to the shop.

This is not the first time when expired cold drinks have been sold in the city. Earlier, bottles with gutkha wrappers inside them have also been found.
