Jamshedpur, August 11: A major rail mishap was averted on Sunday as a section of the coaches broke away from a goods train traveling from Kharagpur to Tatanagar. Quick thinking on the part of the loco pilot averted what could have been a major mishap. The incident occurred when the coupling of a section of the coaches came unlocked. causing the train to divide into two sections. The loco pilot immediately took action, stopping the engine after a short distance, allowing one part of the train to take air and then apply the brake. The station master was promptly informed, and a team was dispatched to the scene to reconnect the separated coaches.
This quick response of the loco pilot averted what could have been a major accident. This incident follows a series of recent near mishaps including a goods train coach catching fire at Galudih station a few days ago, and another fire in a coal-laden goods train coach at Chakulia two days ago. Despite these frequent incidents, timely intervention has prevented serious accidents.

The loco pilot who did this brilliant jot should be rewarded. At least his name should have been highlighted.
