Jamshedpur: Good spell of rain reduces rain deficit to 16%

Jamshedpur: The recent spell of rain across several parts of the State has significantly reduced the state’s rainfall deficit, bringing it down to 16% on Thursday. According to meteorological statistics, Jharkhand has received 489 mm of rainfall against the normal 581 mm for this period.

A bulletin issued by the Ranchi meteorological office indicates that several isolated areas in western Jharkhand are likely to experience heavy rain today. Additionally, light to moderate rain is expected in many other places across the state. This development comes as a relief to residents and farmers who rely on adequate rainfall for their livelihoods.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Ganganagar, Pilani, Agra, Churk, Ranchi, and Digha, extending southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal. This pattern is conducive to further rainfall in the region.

Furthermore, a cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh is influencing weather conditions in Jharkhand. This circulation, which extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level and tilts southwestwards with height, is likely to lead to the formation of a low-pressure area over the same region today.

The meteorological department’s forecasts have been instrumental in preparing for these weather changes. Farmers and residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and take necessary precautions in areas expected to receive heavy rain.

The recent rains have been beneficial in replenishing water bodies and improving soil moisture levels, which are crucial for agriculture. The reduction in rainfall deficit also alleviates concerns of drought and water scarcity in the state.

Local authorities and disaster management teams remain vigilant, ensuring that measures are in place to address any potential issues arising from heavy rainfall. The public is encouraged to report any incidents related to the weather and follow safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
