Jamshedpur: A case of molestation involving a minor girl has been reported from Khuntadih under Sonari police station area.
Acting on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, police registered a case against the accused, identified as C. Gopi Rao. The incident reportedly took place on September 13.
According to reports, the teenager had gone to a nearby shop while playing outside her house when the accused allegedly misbehaved with her.
Following the complaint, police swung into action and have been conducting raids since Wednesday to arrest the accused.
The accused, V. Gopi Rao, is a resident of Sonari New Line. Police said they are keeping a close watch on his movements with the help of informers and assured that he will be nabbed and sent to jail soon.
Notably, incidents of molestation and sexual assault against women and minors have seen a rise across Jamshedpur and Jharkhand in recent days.
Police claim they are adopting a strict stance and taking swift action in such cases.
