Jamshedpur, Dec 2: After a student of the Jamshedpur Women’s University went missing while on way home, her father Prashant Kumar Mahato, a resident of Muria panchayat in Gamharia, has registered a complaint of abduction against Ashish Pramanik, a resident of Sini.
Pramanik however has refuted the charges against him and has submitted an application at the Sini police outpost where he has claimed that he and the collegian, Sweta, have eloped and got married.
Sweta, according to Mahato’s police complaint, went missing on November 29. Mahato has told the police that Sweta used to stay in Jamshedpur to attend classes. Mahato was looking for a suitable groom for his daughter and a youth along with his family were scheduled to visit their house to meet Sweta to explore the possibility of marriage.
When he went to his daughter’s college in Jamshedpur on November 29, he was told that Sweta had left earlier in the evening. All efforts to trace her went in vain and then on Friday he and his wife went to meet Padma Shri award recipient Chutni Mahato and sought her help to locate his daughter. Chutni then intimated the police. However, by then Pramanik had intimated the Sini police outpost that he and sweta had eloped to get married. Police are now investigating the case to ascertain the facts in this case.
