1,200 athletes from 16 districts to compete in 192 events across two days starting Dec 13
Jamshedpur, Dec 11: The Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand announced that the two-day 5th State Level Master Athletic Championship 2025 and the second edition of The Great Jharkhand Run will be held on December 13 and 14 in Jamshedpur, said Association President Vijay Singh and General Secretary and international athlete Sanjeev Kumar Tomar. Addressing a press meet at the JRD Sports Complex on Thursday, they informed that on December 13, the opening day, shot put, discus throw and javelin events will be held at the Archery Complex of the JRD Sports Complex. Competitions will be conducted across seven age categories for women and ten for men.
The second day, December 14, will feature a wide range of track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m races. Additionally, a 3 km run for men and a 1 km run for women will be held across various age groups. Long jump and triple jump events for both men and women will also take place. All events on the second day will be hosted at the JRD Stadium.
The major highlight will be The Great Jharkhand Run, which will begin at 6:00 AM on December 14. Participants—including teenagers, adults and master athletes—will compete in multiple age categories. Reporting time for runners is 5:00 AM. The morning session will include Zumba warm-up sessions followed by road races flagged off by invited guests. The top three winners will receive cash prizes, medals and certificates, while all participants will be awarded medals and e-certificates. Drinking water stations will be set up across the route.
Around 1,200 athletes from 16 districts of Jharkhand are expected to compete in 192 events over two days. Forty trained technical officials and 30 volunteers will assist in conducting the meet. Accommodation arrangements have also been made for visiting athletes.
Numbered T-shirts for participants will be distributed on December 12 at the JRD Sports Complex. Spot registrations will remain open. The press conference was attended by several officials, including Avtar Singh, R.P. Pandey, Rahman, Gursharan Singh, Shyam Sharma, Nitin Kumar and others.
