Jamshedpur gears up for Chaiti Chhath, Ram Navami

Jamshedpur, March 22: Preparations for the upcoming Chaiti Chhath and Ram Navami processions have gathered momentum in steel city, with proactive intervention by the Central Ram Navami Akhara Committee prompting swift action from the district administration.
Acting on concerns raised by committee members over the condition and mismanagement at key ghats, officials conducted an inspection and initiated immediate corrective measures.

A joint inspection was carried out at the Sakchi Swarnarekha Ghat in the presence of RCC department official Divyanshu Singh, where ongoing bridge construction had left the ghat in a disorganized state.
Notably, the Sakchi Swarnarekha Ghat witnesses the largest influx of Ram Navami processions in the city. This year, devotees and akhara committees can expect a revamped layout, with the entry pathway widened and the slope reduced to enhance safety.
The committee also highlighted the need for immediate removal of construction materials scattered across the ghat and better parking arrangements for vehicles.
Responding promptly, Divyanshu Singh directed the contractor to expedite the work and ensure the ghat is restored to order at the earliest.
Meanwhile, cleaning and lighting arrangements—traditionally managed by Jusco—are already underway, following the committee’s intervention. Efforts have also begun to clear remnants of construction debris, and large girders at the site will be covered to prevent accidents.
During the inspection, Committee President Ashutosh Singh urged the district administration to temporarily halt ongoing construction activities at the ghats until the conclusion of the festivals. He emphasized that with thousands of श्रद्धालु expected to gather, any construction-related obstruction could pose serious inconvenience and safety risks.
The district administration has assured the committee that all identified issues will be resolved promptly, ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of both Chaiti Chhath and Ram Navami celebrations.
Prominent members present during the inspection included President Ashutosh Singh, General Secretary Bhupendra Singh, Gautam Prasad, Secretary Manish Kumar, Indrajeet Singh, Shiv Shankar Singh, among others.
