Jamshedpur: Garment shop staff beat up vendor, two detained

Jamshedpur, March 6: Two staff of a garment shop in Sakchi Market allegedly beat up a vendor with cane at Jhanda Chowk on Sunday. The vendor, identified as Ashish Majumdar, a resident of Shyamnagar, Bhuiyandih, was injured in the incident. He was taken to MGM Hospital, sources said.

Sources said the incident took place when the accused persons, Jaidev Dutta and his father Goptal Dutta, allegedly assaulted Ashish with cane and inflicted deep head injury on him. The two beat up Ashish following a tiff with him.

The vendor alleged that the accused persons had snatched Rs 1500 and a gold chain from him during the quarrel.

Sakchi police detained the accused persons and began an inquiry into the incident. They said the incident resulted from a dispute between the shop owner and the vendor.
