Jamshedpur: Forest Dept compensates Sukra’s family

Chakulia, Oct 26 : The local police have, meanwhile, sent the deceased Sukra Munda’s body to the Ghatshila Subdivisional Hospital for autopsy. Sukra Munda, the 62 year old Shakabhanga village resident was mauled to death by a wild elephant. On being informed, MLA Samir Mohanty reached the spot of accident and made enquiries. He then visited late Sukra’s residence and consoled the bereaved family members, assuring them of all possible help. The forest department provided Rs 25 thousand which was handed over to the deceased’s wife, Suri Munda by the MLA as initial compensation. Those present at the time included former Zila Parishad members Sunaram Hansda, Dakhin Kisku, JMM leader Samir Das, forest guard Saurav Bansuri, Sujit Hansda and others.

Forester Digvijay Singh informed that out of the total compensation amount of Rs Four lakh, Rs 25,000 had been paid to deceased Sukra Munda’s wife Suri Munda to meet immediate expenses and that the balance amount of Rs 3.75 lakh would be paid after completion of the paper work.
