Jamshedpur flyover to be named after Shahid Khudiram Bose: Samiti submits demand to Saryu Roy

Jamshedpur, August 28: The Jharkhand Bangla Bhashi Unnayan Samiti has urged the state government to name the under-construction Mango flyover in Jamshedpur after Shahid Khudiram Bose, the youngest revolutionary martyr of India’s freedom struggle. The committee has also demanded that a statue of Shahid Khudiram Bose be installed near the flyover once construction was completed.

A delegation of the committee met Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy and placed its detailed demands. The committee pointed out that the Shahid Smarak and statue of Khudiram Bose, earlier located at Mango Chowk and beautified under Saryu Roy’s initiative, had been safely removed and preserved by the district administration during the flyover’s construction. However, the delegation expressed concern that if the memorial was not reinstalled, future generations might remain unaware of the martyr’s sacrifice.

The committee submitted a letter on August 11, formally requesting that the flyover be named after Khudiram Bose. The committee appealed to Roy to support the cause. In response, Saryu Roy assured that he would present the demand letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the Assembly and request a sympathetic consideration.

Delegation members included Rajesh Roy, Anshu Mukherjee, Asit Chakraborty, Kamal Chakraborty, Sanjeev Acharya, Tarak Mukherjee, Ranjit Aich, Biswajit Chakraborty, Prem Ranjan Ghosh, Pranab Vikas Dhar, Pulak Sarkar, Pranab Kumar Das, Chandan Mitra, Jahar Rakshit, Anant Kundu, Abhishek Dey, Piyush Paul and others.
