Jamshedpur, Dec. 27: Giant-sized Lord Ganesh, varieties of flower and vegetables were the popular attraction of the four-day annual flower show held as part of the Jamshedpur Fest at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur on Sunday. 27th Jamshedpur Flower Show is being organized by Horticulture Society Jamshedpur and Jusco from 26-29 December, 2015.
Despite Rs 10 entry fee, crowd in large number were seen in queue at the ticket counters.
Large quantities of yellow and pink roses along with a giant sixed Lord Ganesh was a crowd puller, with enthusiastic children and young girls posing with it for photographs. Several girls were seen taking selfies with varieties of roses.
Floriculturists also exhibited varieties of flowers. Also on display � proving to be major attractions � were vegetables and fruits of different sizes on what was a pleasant day in the steel city.
Organised for the third year at the Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, There will be more technical sessions by the experts invited by the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur. Scientists from Kolkata, Nagpur and Bhubaneshwar have been invited for sessions as well as to judge the show.
This year too, the competition is broadly classified as Institutional and Amateur. There are 10 categories in Amateur and nine in Institutional.
The various categories will be �potted seasonal flowers, perennial flowers, potted fruits and vegetables, potted foliage plants, cacti and succulents, bonsai, cut flowers, bouquets, medicinal and aromatic plants.
Not only gardeners but farmers from nearby Potka and Patamda blocks will also participate and gain technical knowledge on increasing their produce.
