Jamshedpur, Dec 28: A long running annual event began Saturday in the Steel city. The 25th Annual Flower Show kicked off Saturday morning in Gopal Maidan. This year the mega event is being held at Gopal Maidan to mark the silver jubilee celebration of the Jamshedpur Horticulture Society. Apart from the flower show a Horticulture Expo is also being held at the same venue.
The event was jointly inaugurated by Anand Sen, President (TQM & Steel Business) who was present as the Chief Guest, P.N. Singh, President, TWU who was present as the Guest of Honour also present on the occasion was Surekha Nerurkar Chairperson of Jamshedpur Horticulture Society, BK Dinda of
Tata Workers union, Sunil Bhaskaran Dy. VP Corporate Affairs and communications Tata Steel, Captain Dhanajay of Jusco and several others.
Guest took a round of the ground visited several stalls of flowers, fruits, vegetables etc and were impressed with quality of flowers and vegetables displayed.
Show arena is divided into two parts i.e. Arena for Annual Flower Show (Left side of the entry) and Arena for Horticulture Expo (Right side of the entry).
The show which is jointly organized by JUSCO & Horticultural Society Jamshedpur with the help of Tata Steel is the first time such a mega event is being held in the city which will help denizens weekend more pleasant.
There is a display of various flowers by different organizations (40) as well as individuals. Competition of different category of potted seasonal flower, perennial flower, potted fruits and vegetables, potted foliage plants, cacti and succulents, bonsai, cut flowers, bouquets and garlands, medicinal and aromatically plants.
At the Horticulture Expo Arena, there are 65 numbers of stalls where participants from all across the country which includes retailers, importers, exporters, trades in herebal medicinal plants, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, garden tools, spraying equipments, pumps and farm machineries etc are present. Apart from that for the benefit of flower lovers 30 numbers of sale counters are placed adjacent to the flower show venue for exhibition and sale.
Total numbers of stalls are 135 as compared to 70 last year. The show continues till Monday, Dec 30.
