Jamshedpur, Dec 28: The shooting for the film Banana is almost complete we just have to shoot a song and we will do it very soon. It is familiar that Jamshedpur is not shooting friendly and knowing all these we picked Steel city as the venue for shooting of my debut film as director because I have been born and brought up in the city and it is very close to my heart, I have spent my childhood and did my schooling from Loyola School, said Sajid Ali director of the film Banana while addressing the media persons today at Karim City College.

Brother of famous bollywood director Imtiaz Ali, Sajid is entering the industry with his debut film Banana which is being produced by John Abraham.

Despite hurdles we enjoyed shooting and we gained more than we lost, in Mumbai if you are going out for a shoot everything is planned we have to take permission from several officers but in Jamshedpur if you have some contacts with the administration people your work is done easily. So I can say that shooting in Jamshedpur is much easier than in Mumbai. The people here are very friendly and patience and despite being far away from the city for more than a decade it was welcoming feeling, added Khan.

Talking about the artists in the film Sajid said that we got a huge support from Karim City College, the likes of background artists and other support staff that helped us complete the shoot. One of the songs from the movie has been written by Biswadeep Sen, ex student of the college. The music director of the film is Joy Barua who is also a new comer to the scene. The shooting was 100 % done in Jamshedpur and for two days we went to Puri which is a part of the film.

We are hoping to do the premiere of the film in Jamshedpur but due to connectivity issues the premiere might be shifted to Mumbai. The film is slated to release in mid 2014.

Sajid further said that the name of the film Banana might be changed and there is 90% chance that it will be, we have not come across any new name but it will be finalized soon.

The editing work will be done in the first week of January when our team reached Mumbai. Sajid mentioned the names of Navin Shukla and Saurav Mahato his childhood friends and said they provided their full support.
Sajid said that Jamshedpur has a huge talent pool and budding filmmakers will make a mark in the coming 10 years and specially Karim City which has produced number of big names in the field of media and film.

It may be noted that John Abraham was in the steel city for the shooting who is in a guest appearance in the film. When asked how John liked the city, Sajid said that John didnt move a lot around but he felt very comfortable here.

The film’s story revolves around a young boy who tries to deal with the experiences life hands out to him and John believes that the film will appeal to all age groups.

Banana will hit the floors in mid 2014.
