Sales Tax department seizes long-distance buses flouting norms

Jamshedpur: The sales tax department has nabbed two long-distance buses that was transporting medicines and groundnuts to other states without obtaining valid permits. According to sources, the department launched a drive to tighten the noose of erring bus operators. � Acting on a tip off we conducted the raid and have seized the busses. The operators were transporting several things without valid permits. We plan to conduct more such raids to force the operators to adhere to the norms,� said an official. The Sitaramdera bus terminus on an average caters to over 100 long-distance buses that that head for places such as Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Bengal, Odisha and Bihar.
