Jamshedpur, Jan 13: City residents will be able to avail flight service to Kolkata and Bhubneshwar from Sonari Airport from 31st January.
Sources said the Civil Aviation Ministry has selected Jamshedpur for the regional connectivity scheme ‘Udan’. India One Air has been allotted flights on Jamshedpur-Kolkata route. The flight from Jamshedpur to Kolkata will take one hour and five minutes and it will cost Rs 2600 per passenger. The flight from Jamshedpur to Bhubneshwar will take one hour and 20 minutes. The air fare for this route is yet to be determined, sources said.
Sources further said that the airline company will fix the fare by itself as the flight on this route is not covered under Udaan scheme. There will be nine seats each for Kolkata and Bhubneshwar flights. In the flights from Jamshedpur to Kolkata, 70 per cent seats would be reserved under Udaan scheme and the fare for these seats would be fixed by the government which is Rs 2600 at present.
