Jamshedpur, Dec 16: Armed assailants opened fire on contractor Ajay Pandey alias Bhola Pandey in Carriage Colony under Burmamines police station area on Friday. The victim reportedly sustained bullet injury in his thigh. He was taken to Tata Main Hospital, sources said.

Police suspect the incident could be the result of a rivalry over Railway contracts as Pandey is a contractor of Railway and FCI related works.
Cops recovered pellets from the crime scene. They said they will have to wait for some more time before the victim is ready to give his statement.

Sources said Pandey was on his bike when the assailants fired on him. Police said three persons, Ajit Gutpa, Ayush and Pawan, were identified as the suspected assailants.
ASP Sudhanshu Jain said a probe is on and that the culprits would soon be arrested.
