Jamshedpur, May 14: Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Albino Gomes has been named in India national football team’s 28-member preliminary squad for the Unity Cup 2026, marking another significant recognition for the experienced shot-stopper.
India head coach Khalid Jamil announced the probables on Thursday, with the Blue Tigers set to assemble in Bengaluru following the conclusion of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season. The final 23-member squad for the tournament in London will be selected after a short preparatory camp.
Albino’s inclusion comes on the back of a consistent and influential campaign for the Men of Steel, where his leadership and crucial saves have played an important role in Jamshedpur FC’s strong season.
The Unity Cup will feature four nations, with India set to face Jamaica national football team in the second semi-final on May 27 (May 28 in IST). Nigeria national football team will take on Zimbabwe national football team in the other semi-final.
Albino is one of four goalkeepers named in the preliminary squad, alongside Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Vishal Kaith and Hrithik Tiwari.
