Jamshedpur, February 3: Fresh from a winning start to their AIFF Sub-Junior League 2025–26 campaign, Jamshedpur FC Under-14 will face their first away challenge when they take on SPOF Football Academy in Kolkata.
The fixture will be an important early test for the young Boys of Steel, who opened their campaign with a disciplined 2-0 victory at home. Moving away from familiar conditions, the match against SPOF will test the squad’s adaptability, temperament and game management against a side known for its competitive youth structure.
Jamshedpur FC’s Under-14 side continues to draw attention for its largely homegrown composition, with 19 of the 20 players hailing from Jharkhand. The squad has been shaped through merit-based scouting from Tata Steel Foundation grassroots centres and the Jharkhand State team, and has been training together for the past two months at the Tata Football Academy.
Head coach Rahul Raj has stressed consistency and learning as key objectives in the early phase of the league. The away match presents an opportunity for the players to apply those lessons in a challenging environment and build on the positive momentum from the opening game.
As the zonal round unfolds, Jamshedpur FC will be keen to put in a strong performance in Kolkata and continue their steady start to the Sub-Junior League campaign.
