Jamshedpur, Oct 22: Jamshedpur FC bagged first point of the Hero Indian Super League 2022-23 season as they drew 1-1 against Mumbai City FC today at the Mumbai Football Arena.
The game started off well with both teams creating end-to-end chances. But it’s the Islanders who opened the scoring. Within the 8th minute of the match, Chhangte found the net defying the defenders inside the box. The lead didn’t last long as Daniel Chima found the net in the 12th minute to equalize for Jamshedpur FC.
Thereafter the men of steel went on to dominate the first half. Wellington Priori along with Germanpreet Singh created the gameplay at the center of the park as the Islanders found it difficult to get control of the game.
Jamshedpur FC got their best chance of the night at the 28’ when Boris received a chiseled pass from Wellington. The winger did no mistake to pull the trigger on target but was parried away by the Mumbai custodian.
Going into the break the score remained 1-1 with Jamshedpur FC having the majority of chances.
Mumbai seemed better in the second half as they tried to create chances based on Greg Stewart. But Eli Sabia and Pratik Chowdhury at the back made sure to cage the forward leaving Stewart no space to find the target.
The gaffer made a few changes in the later quarters of the game as he replaced Harry and Chima to bring in JET and Ishan respectively. Mumbai created some good chances in the dying minutes of the game. But custodian TP Rehnesh was alert enough to defy all the odds as the game ended with both teams sharing the points.
Jamshedpur FC plays next against NorthEast United FC at the home on 30th October 2022.
