Tarapore students hold audience in awe with choral recitation prowess

Jamshedpur, Oct 22: Tarapore School organised the Annual Kindergarten and the Junior Primary Choral Recitation contest on Saturday, October 22. Tarapore School’s students from Kindergarten to Standards II held the audience in awe as they suavely and with aplomb recited poems in chorus leading a parent in the audience to observe, “There were only winners and no losers. The school’s annual choral recitation contest is an endeavour to enhance the speaking, reading and listening skills in students thereby developing their memory and oral interpretation skill.” This parental observation underlined the fact that choral recitation developed the much needed skill of successful coordinated efforts.

 The theme for the event was ‘Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture.’ The chorally recited poems brought out various features of aquatic life forms and how they assisted in maintaining and preserving the environment.

Senior teachers of Tarapore School Payal Grover, Archana Rai and Priya Roy constituted the panel of juries.  The students recited poems on several aquatic life forms and their relevance to natural environment. Students of all sections between Kg and Std 2 were loaded with vigour, zeal and confidence that were reflected in their recitations. They captivated the audience with their Hindi and English recitations with conviction and even the panel of judges were impressed as were the audience that included parents and other guests.

 Winners of the Kindergarten English Choral Recitation were L Kg section D for their poem “Starfish” and H Kg — C for their poem, ‘ Sea Animals.’ In the Hindi segment, H Kg – B grabbed top honours for, ‘Machhli Rani.’

 In the Junior Primary Department, the winners of the English Choral Recitation contest were Std. I D for their poem ‘The Fish in the Sea’ and Std.II A for the recitation of the poem, ‘The Great Blue Whale.’  The Hindi Choral Recitation awards were bagged by Std. I B for their recitation of, ‘Nanha Machhuara’ and Std II D for their poem, ‘Machhliyon Ka Sansar.’
