Jamshedpur farmers urged to apply for ‘Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’

Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal has urged farmers in the district to complete their enrollment for the Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana by 31 December 2024, in order to avail financial compensation in the event of crop loss during the Rabi season for the year 2024-25. With just seven days left before the deadline,  Mittal emphasized the importance of applying for the crop insurance scheme, which provides a safety net for farmers facing crop damage due to natural calamities.

Farmers who have not yet enrolled can visit the District Cooperative Officer’s office, Block Offices, or contact the Krishi Rakshak toll-free helpline number 14447 for assistance. Additionally, detailed information is available on the official website [https://pmfby.gov.in/farmer](https://pmfby.gov.in/farmer).

To complete the application process, farmers will need to submit their Aadhar card, a photocopy of their bank passbook, land ownership documents, a notarized sharecropping certificate (if applicable), a self-attested crop sowing certificate, and a mobile number.

The amount notified per hectare for various crops in East Singhbhum district is as follows: Wheat: Rs. 58,178, Mustard: Rs. 33,202, Gram: Rs. 45,325 and Potato: Rs. 1,68,075.

Mittal also highlighted that the premium token for the insurance scheme is only Rs. 1, making it an affordable option for both loanee and non-loanee farmers. He urged all eligible farmers to take advantage of this opportunity to secure financial protection for their crops.
