Jamshedpur, June 3: A shocking incident near Agrico Chowk has raised concerns about law and order in Jamshedpur. A banker, Peetens Tiwari and his family were attacked on Monday evening by intoxicated youths while returning from a walk. The assailants accused the family’s car of brushing against them, demanded money and attacked the vehicle. As the family fled toward Sitaramdera police station, the attackers threw stones, damaged the car and attempted to assault the women. Tiwari’s wife said, “They tried to tear our clothes; we feared for our lives.” Shockingly, Sitaramdera police refused to act citing jurisdiction issues. Only after media coverage and social media outcry on Tuesday did senior officials respond. The family remains traumatized and demands justice. “We were left helpless when we needed the police most,” the family said, calling for arrests and accountability for both the attackers and negligent officers.
