Jharkhand IPS officers await office space, new postings after transfer shuffle

Mail News Service

Ranchi, June 4: Following the major reshuffle in the Jharkhand Police Department on May 27, several IPS officers are facing administrative challenges including lack of designated office space and uncertainty over new postings.

Though many officers were transferred, their new workplaces are reportedly not equipped for their designated ranks. For instance, ADG Sanjay Latkar, transferred from ADG Operations to ADG Rail, currently lacks a designated office in the Rail Department. While there are offices for DG, IG and DIG-level officers, there is none for an ADG-rank officer.

Similarly, Y.S. Ramesh, who was DIG of Palamu Range and is now DIG SCRB, faces similar issues. The SCRB has offices for SP and IG-level officers, but none for DIGs.

The government had issued transfer and posting orders for 45 IPS officers, including SSPs and SPs from 14 districts. Additionally, three officers were assigned extra charges. However, five officers whose positions have been filled by others are still awaiting new assignments.

Currently, three out of six DIG range positions in Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Ranchi remain vacant. These regions are considered sensitive in terms of law and order. Experts warn that delays in filling these vacancies could hinder regional policing and administrative efficiency.
