Jamshedpur: The Excise Department launched a stringent enforcement drive across East Singhbhum district to curb the illegal liquor trade, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of alcohol and one arrest. Acting on directives from the Assistant Excise Commissioner, officials conducted coordinated raids within the Potka and Bagbera police station areas.
Raids and Seizures
The enforcement operations targeted residential and commercial properties used for the illicit trade:
- Potka Police Station Area: Officials searched the residence and grocery store of Ganesh Patro in Lovadih village, recovering approximately 10.260 liters of illegal foreign liquor.
- Bagbera Police Station Area: A raid on Garhabasa Road led to the seizure of 15.960 liters of illicit foreign liquor and 10 litters of illegally brewed country liquor from the home of Rajkumar Singh.
Arrests and Legal Action
Authorities apprehended Rajkumar Singh on the spot during the Bagbera operation. However, Ganesh Patro remains at large after allegedly obstructing the road to evade arrest during the raid in Potka.

The Excise Department has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying these operations to dismantle illegal networks throughout the district.
