Jamshedpur, Oct 23: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning near the Sundernagar railway crossing, where 58-year-old Shambhu Lohar, a resident of Jodragoda, lost his life after being hit by a train.
According to reports, Shambhu Lohar had stepped out early in the morning for his routine toilet visit when the accident happened.
Locals stated that while crossing the railway tracks near pole number 253/87 after passing the Sundernagar gate, he was suddenly hit by an approaching train. The mishap occurred around 5 a.m.
Nearby residents immediately recognized Shambhu Lohar and informed his family, who rushed to the spot and notified the Sundernagar police.
Police arrived promptly, took the body into custody, prepared a formal report, and later sent it for postmortem examination at MGM Medical College Hospital.
Following the completion of formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
Shambhu Lohar’s daughter-in-law, Laxmi Lohar, told that he is survived by four children.
He had been working as a mini-bus driver on the Sundernagar-Sakchi route until about a year ago, but due to declining health, he had to quit and remain at home.
The family, already facing financial difficulties, has been left devastated by his sudden death.
Residents of the area expressed concern over frequent negligence by people while crossing railway tracks in the early morning hours.
They urged the authorities to regulate movement in this area and provide financial assistance to the bereaved family.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are completing all necessary legal procedures.
