Will contest polls from Jamshedpur East: Saryu Roy

BJM will contest on 30 seats, no plan to merge with BJP, says MLA

Jamshedpur, Jan 7: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy Saturday said he will contest the Jharkhand Assembly elections from Jamshedpur East constituency and nowhere else.

Replying to questions regarding his plans for the Assembly polls at a press conference at his Bistupur residence, Roy said his party, Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) will contest the polls at 30 seats. He said he had no plans to merge the party with BJP.

“I still follow the ideology of RSS, Jan Sangh and the BJP. Their ideology alone can strengthen the country,” said Roy.

The MLA said he did not want to separate ways with the BJP but did so due to circumstances created by his opponents. “Had the BJP leadership asked me not to contest the elections beforehand, I would have readily accepted it. Whatever I was before 2019, it was only due to RSS, Jan Sangh and BJP. I discharged my duties as legislator twice, minister and party functionary,” he said. Asked if he was planning to join BJP, Roy said, “If you run into a tiger, you have no option to do anything. It is the tiger which has the prerogative to act and not you.”

Banna resorting to hooliganism, will get befitting reply: Roy

Jamshedpur, Jan 7: MLA Saryu Roy trained his gun on state Health Minister Banna Gupta. He accused him of indulging in ‘hooliganism’. “Banna Gupta is harassing the people of his area. People are being threatened and tortured through police and houses are being demolished. Notices are being sent. This is wrong and it is not going to help the minister in any manner,” said Roy.

Roy said he will give a befitting reply to the minister’s hooliganism.

Roy further said that the BJP leaders were keeping mum on attacks on their own party members and not reacting to the minister’s ‘misdeeds’, thereby proving that there is a tacit understanding between them.
