Jamshedpur: “Playing obscene songs is strictly prohibited—only devotional music will be allowed. Special drives will be launched against illegal liquor and narcotics, and strict surveillance will be maintained on rumor-mongering through social media,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey while addressing a high-level meeting on Durga Puja and Vijayadashmi preparations at the Collectorate Auditorium on Wednesday.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, reviewed law and order measures and civic arrangements for the upcoming festivities. Police officials confirmed that adequate forces, anti-riot vehicles, and water cannons will be deployed at sensitive locations, along with flag marches, patrolling, and mock drills for crowd control.

The meeting was attended by senior administrative officials, police officers, municipal authorities, fire services, health officials, and representatives from private companies.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the festivals are celebrated in a safe, peaceful, and harmonious manner. He emphasized that every puja pandal must undergo verification, while physical checks of immersion routes and ghats are mandatory. “Adequate lighting, sanitation, and cleanliness at ghats must be ensured. First aid boxes, fire extinguishers, and help desks should be available in all pandals,” he said. He also instructed civic bodies and Jusco to provide temporary toilets, drinking water facilities, and proper garbage disposal mechanisms. The Civil Surgeon was directed to map the city cluster-wise and station ambulances near crowded areas.
The municipal body and Tata Steel UISL should ensure solid arrangements for cleanliness, lighting and garbage disposal. First aid boxes, fire extinguishers, help centers should be available in all pandals. There should be separate entry and exit gates for men and women. Temporary toilets, drinking water and other civic amenities should be provided. The Civil Surgeon was directed to mark the entire city cluster-wise and keep ambulances deployed around crowded places.
Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey assured full-proof security arrangements with adequate deployment of forces, anti-riot vehicles, and water cannons at sensitive points. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Municipal Commissioner JNAC, DTO, Sub-Divisional Officers of Dhalbhum and Ghatshila, fire service officials, health officers, and representatives from private companies. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all stakeholders to ensure civic and security arrangements are flawless so that citizens can celebrate the festival with joy and safety.
