Ghatshila by-election: Special summary revision of voter list

Jamshedpur: In line with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the process of special summary revision of the voter list has commenced in the 45-Ghatsila Assembly constituency. As part of this exercise, representatives of all recognised political parties were invited to the office of the Electoral Registration Officer to formally receive claim and objection forms.

Electoral Registration Officer-cum-SDO Ghatsila, Sunil Chandra, distributed the forms to party representatives and appealed for their cooperation in publicising the campaign. He urged them to encourage eligible citizens to actively participate by filling claim and objection forms for inclusion of new voters, correction of details, change of address, or deletion of names of deceased or shifted voters.

Emphasising the importance of transparency, Chandra said that the objective of the drive is to ensure that “every eligible voter finds their name in the electoral rolls and no citizen is left out of the democratic process.” He highlighted that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are already contacting voters at the ground level and sought the support of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from political parties to strengthen the initiative.

The ERO assured that all claims and objections submitted within the stipulated time frame will be duly examined and addressed in accordance with election rules, with timely action to ensure an error-free electoral roll.

Representatives of the political parties present at the meeting welcomed the campaign and assured full cooperation in spreading awareness and facilitating the inclusion of eligible voters. They acknowledged that a clean and accurate voter list is essential for free and fair elections.

The special summary revision is expected to further strengthen the electoral process in Ghatsila by expanding voter participation and ensuring accuracy in the rolls ahead of the upcoming elections.
