Jamshedpur Durga Puja: Police issue instructions on safety for celebrations, SSP convenes meeting

Jamshedpur, Sept 26: : With  Durga Puja not very far away, the East Singhbhum police under Senior Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kishore,convened a crucial meeting in collaboration with the Jamshedpur Kendriya Durga Puja Samity.

The primary objective of this meeting held today was to issue essential instructions to the various puja committees, ensuring a peaceful and harmonious celebration of the festival.

During the meeting, SSP emphasised the need to maintain a serene atmosphere during the festivities. He highlighted that the administration is committed to curbing noise pollution in the city during this period, citing concerns for senior citizens and students preparing for examinations.

“It is noticed that people organize religious and cultural events during this season, often using loudspeakers and amplifiers until late hours. This can be disruptive for students who are studying for their exams. We will not allow such disturbances,” he stated firmly.

Kishore also reassured the public that the police force is ready to provide assistance promptly. He announced that Puja revelers can dial 100 for immediate police assistance, ensuring their safety and security during late-night pandal-hopping.

Addressing a common issue faced by Puja committees, the Samity urged committees to simplify their celebrations and refrain from imposing forced donations on traders and residents. The apex body emphasized the importance of basic necessities and emergency preparedness, including fire safety.

Addressing the concerns surrounding safety, The SSP reiterated his commitment to ensuring a safe and incident-free Puja celebration this year. He urged puja committees to prioritize the provision of adequate entry and exit points in their pandals, emphasizing the importance of safety over aesthetic beauty.

Furthermore, Kishore raised concerns about the consumption of liquor by volunteers, which can lead to chaotic situations during the festivities. He encouraged committees to take proper electrical connections to minimize the risk of short circuits.

With parking becoming a significant concern in the city, the SSP has directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and other traffic officials to develop a parking plan for major puja pandals in the city. He also warned that action would be taken against pandals found violating noise regulations after 10 pm.

Officials of the Samity, highlighted the need to keep river water clean following idol immersions, particularly in light of the increased cases of vector-borne diseases. The Samity, which oversees the organization of the festival, includes 400 small and large puja committees in the city.

 

Mock drill for  Puja preparedness

Jamshedpur, Sept 26: In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities in the steel city, the district police conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Golmuri police lines today.

The exercise was aimed to keep the police force well-prepared to respond effectively to any emergency situation that may arise during the grand festival.

Led by SSP Kaushal Kishore, the mock drill unfolded for over a period of more than two hours and involved a wide range of simulated scenarios. Policemen demonstrated their readiness by firing shots, deploying teargas shells, utilizing water cannons, and executing lathi charges.

With over 200 policemen and numerous police officials participating in the exercise, the mock drill served as a valuable training opportunity. It instilled confidence among the officers, reinforcing their ability to handle various emergency situations during the bustling festival.

 The city witnesses the more than 350 public Pujas, attracting a large number of Puja revelers who go for pandal-hopping.

However, the festive season also brings an increase in criminal activities, including snatching and eve-teasing. In crowded areas, minor incidents can potentially escalate into major law and order issues, necessitating the preparedness of the district police.

Apart from managing vehicular traffic, the district police face the challenging task of monitoring antisocial elements during this period. Ensuring the safety and security of the public is paramount, and the district police remain committed to maintaining law and order during the festive season.
