Jamshedpur Durga Puja: DC reviews preparation, focus on cleanliness, traffic system, crowd control 

Control room to be manned by civic bodies for quick redressal of grievances

Jamshedpur, September 10: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav reviewed preparation for Durga Puja at a meeting in district collectorate on Saturday.

During the meeting the municipal bodies officials were about the cleaning near puja pandals and immersion ghats, barricading, street light, high mast light repair, traffic system, crowd control, IEC activity etc. The meeting was also attended by Tata Steel and TSUISL.

The District Deputy Commissioner informed that soon the administration will hold a meeting with the Central Durga Puja committees and thana-wise peace committees and apprise them about the feelings of the administration regarding administrative preparations and the expected cooperation in the maintenance of law and order during the festivity. Municipal officials were directed that in addition to the district level control room, the concerned municipal body would also operate the control room.

On the basis of the information received, the personnel deputed in the control room would ensure to resolve the problems/complaints immediately by informing the senior officers. Before the commencement of the puja, instructions were given for on-site inspection of high mast lights installed at various places and repair of street lights, fogging, blanching, regular drain-cleaning of roads.

Necessary guidelines were also given regarding the cleanliness of the puja pandal premises, drinking water supply etc.

Deputy Commissioner said that the use of plastic is completely prohibited in the district, so under IEC activity, posters should be put up in the pandals to make people aware about no plastic and drug addiction.

Installation of large dustbins, cleaning of river ghats for immersion, availability of sound system, diver,  installation of signage related to danger zones etc. During this discussion was held regarding crowd control and smooth traffic system.

The Deputy Commissioner clearly said that if the construction work has been done by making slight deviations in the passed map, then immediately action should be taken against the concerned. She directed the vigilance team of the municipal bodies for surprise inspection of the construction work being done against the map passed.

Along with this, instructions were given to ensure that the people who deviate the map do not get water-electricity connection under any circumstances. The Deputy Commissioner clearly said that notice should be given to those who deviate the map and also direct them to break the illegal construction work, warn of administrative action for disobeying the order.
