Jamshedpur District Bar Association elections on August 24

Jamshedpur:  The Jamshedpur District Bar Association is gearing up for its upcoming elections, scheduled for August 24. On Saturday, election officials announced the list of candidates contesting various posts for the 2024-2026 term. A total of 66 candidates are in the fray for 16 key positions within the association.

For the prestigious post of president, five candidates are competing: Malkit Singh, Omkar Nath Arun, Rathindra Nath Das, Rohit Kumar, and Vimal Kumar Pandey. The vice-presidential race features Anuradha Chaudhuri, Balai Panda, Basant Kumar Mishra, Ravi Shankar Tripathi, and Sudhir Kumar. The post of general secretary has attracted three contenders: Ajay Singh Rathore, Harendra Kumar, and Kumar Rajesh Ranjan.

The competition for the treasurer’s position includes Divendu Mandal, Jai Prakash Bhakat, Jitendra Kumar Dubey, and Rajiv Saini. Meanwhile, candidates Jagdeep Singh Saini, Praveen Kumar, Pushpa Kumari, Sankata Singh, Shyam Mohan Gupta, and Shamsad Khan are vying for the assistant treasurer role.

The joint secretary position has drawn a large field, with 22 candidates, including Dilip Kumar Mahato, Janmejaya Kumar Singh, Mohammad Zahir Iqbal, and Vinita Singh, among others. The election is expected to be highly competitive, given the diverse pool of candidates and the significance of the roles within the legal community.

Election spokesperson Ranjan Dhari Singh emphasized the importance of the election, urging members to participate actively and vote responsibly. The outcome of these elections will determine the leadership of the Jamshedpur District Bar Association for the next two years, making it a pivotal event for the local legal fraternity.
