Jamshedpur: The court of ADJ-2 Aabhas Kumar Verma has taken strict action against the in-charge of MGM Police Station for failing to comply with court orders in a murder case. During a recent hearing, the court found that the SHO had not followed instructions to present witnesses, prompting the court to issue a show-cause notice and order the SHO to appear in person to provide an explanation.
The case involves the murder of Sunil Singh, a resident of Beko village in the MGM police station area, who was killed with a stick and a sharp weapon on July 25, 2022. His body was found in a canal at Shukupada. An FIR was lodged based on a statement from the victim’s father, Vijay Singh, accusing 5-6 unknown persons. Subsequently, the police arrested Dashrath Singh, Nakul Mundari, and two minors from Beko village, who were then sent to jail.
Despite the seriousness of the case, none of the listed witnesses, including Jyoti Lal Rajveer, Dr. Vibhakar Kumar (MGM Hospital), Rohini Singh Sardar, and others, appeared in court to testify, leaving the case stalled. The court had previously ordered the SHO to present the witnesses by May 30, but no response was received. The deadline was extended to August 17, but again, no action was taken.
On Saturday, the court took a firm stand, serving a show-cause notice to the SHO and ordering the suspension of his salary until the case is resolved. The court has also communicated with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to ensure compliance with its orders. The court’s actions underscore the importance of accountability in the judicial process and the need for law enforcement to adhere strictly to legal mandates.
