Jamshedpur: District administration appeals for harmony ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, strict action against rumour mongers

Jamshedpur: In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) festival, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal convened a crucial meeting with members of the Central Peace Committee at the Ravindra Bhawan Auditorium. The officials emphasized the importance of celebrating the festival in a peaceful and harmonious environment and sought cooperation from all community members to maintain law and order.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police addressed the complaints and suggestions raised by peace committee members regarding issues such as drinking water, electricity, cleanliness, and action against anti-social elements. They assured the committee that timely actions would be taken to address these concerns.

Social Media Vigilance: A strict watch will be maintained on social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation. Legal action will be taken against individuals, page admins, or group admins found spreading false information. A dedicated team is monitoring social media activities continuously.

  Community Cooperation: Residents are urged to respect each other’s feelings during the festival and to verify any objectionable or misleading information with the administration before reacting. The community’s cooperation is crucial in ensuring a peaceful celebration.

Security and Law Enforcement: Adequate numbers of magistrates and police officers have been deployed for the festival. Special instructions were given to police station in-charges to prevent sacrifices in open spaces and ensure proper disposal of waste material to maintain cleanliness and avoid disputes.

Municipal and Utility Services: Municipal officials have been directed to ensure thorough cleanliness in urban areas. The drinking water department is to maintain adequate water supply, and the electricity department is tasked with ensuring uninterrupted power and repairing street and high mast lights as needed.

Safety Precautions: Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, City SP Mukesh Lunayat, Rural SP Rishabh Garg, ADM Law and Order Anant Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Sinha, and other officials were present to discuss and finalize the necessary safety measures.

Ananya Mittal, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner: “Legal action will be ensured against those spreading rumours on social media. We appeal to the people of the district to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in a peaceful and harmonious environment, respecting each other’s sentiments. Please avoid any kind of rumours and confirm any questionable information with the administration.”

Kishore Kaushal, Senior Superintendent of Police: “A sufficient number of magistrates and police officers are in place to ensure security. Sacrifices should not be made in open spaces, and proper disposal of waste is essential to prevent dirt and disputes. Police will keep a vigilant eye on religious places and surrounding areas.”
