Jamshedpur: The Jharkhand Adivasi Moolvasi Vikas Parishad has submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Prohibition Department, East Singhbhum, demanding the immediate closure and relocation of the English liquor shop situated at Baridih Jaher Tola.
The Parishad has stated that Baridih Jaher Tola is a tribal-dominated locality and the liquor outlet is located close to the sacred tribal worship site Jaher. Members also highlighted that the shop lies adjacent to Mercy Hospital and near Manipal Medical College, where medical students and local residents frequently pass by. The presence of the liquor shop in such a sensitive area, they argued, has led to the gathering of anti-social elements, creating fear among the community and raising concerns of potential untoward incidents in the future.
In view of these circumstances, the Parishad has urged the administration to act swiftly to close and shift the liquor shop from the locality.
The delegation was led by council president Nirup Hansda, along with Ujjwal Mandal, Ranjay, Raisen, Ashok and other members.
