Jamshedpur, July 6: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav Wednesday paid a surprise visit to the anganbari centre in Phulpal and Bankati Middle School, both situated in Ghatsila block, on Wednesday.

The DC soon turned a teacher for the students and gave them lessons on various subjects. In the absence of electricity, she taught with the help of mobile phone light. Visibly upset over the students’ inability to read Hindi, the DC expressed her disappointment to the headmaster in-chrage Rajeev Chandra Jha and directed him to take extra classes of half an hour duration and work hard to improve the performance of students. The headmaster apologized for the poor performance of students. The DC in turn said she should have visited the school earlier, sources said.
Jadhav thereafter inquired about the midday meal facility in the school. She also visited the anganbari centre in Phulpal village. She expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of Sevika at the centre. She spoke to the Sahayika Amna Khatun. On failing to see attendance register, she pulled up the CDPO and directed the anganbari staff to improve their performance.
