Jamshedpur DC reviews residential schools: Teachers’ salary linked to online attendance

Jamshedpur: In a comprehensive review meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium, Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal evaluated the functioning of residential schools managed by the Education and Welfare Departments. The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner  Aniket Sachan and other departmental officials. The review covered various aspects, including student enrollment, online attendance of teachers and students, performance in Matriculation and Intermediate Pre-Board exams, availability of basic facilities, and infrastructure requirements in residential schools.

During the review, it was observed that teachers in many residential schools were not consistently marking their online attendance. Taking serious note of this issue, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that teachers’ salaries would be disbursed strictly according to their online attendance records. Furthermore, the school management was directed to ensure mandatory online attendance for both students and teachers and to submit these reports promptly to the district office. Additionally, instructions were given to conduct regular health checkups for children in all residential schools.

The meeting also highlighted the need for infrastructure development and improvement of basic amenities in several schools. Proposals included the construction of additional classrooms at KGBV Jamshedpur, a boundary wall at KGBV Chakulia, expansion of hostel capacity at KGBV Ghatsila, construction of dormitories at KGBV Baharagora, playground leveling at KGBV Gudabanda, and safety enhancements at KGBV Dhalbhumgarh, including the installation of lightning conductors. The availability of drinking water in all schools was also reviewed to ensure adequate supply.

Addressing the attendees, Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal emphasized that the district administration is committed to ensuring the availability of basic facilities in schools as per state government guidelines. He stressed the importance of not only providing facilities but also enhancing the students’ interest in academics and extracurricular activities. He urged the schools to make optimal use of available sports resources and playgrounds to promote physical fitness and overall development.

During the review of enrollment status in the three Chief Minister Utkrishta Vidyalayas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner directed that no seat should remain vacant. He highlighted that this is an ambitious scheme by the state government aimed at providing quality education through the CBSE board, similar to private schools. He assured that the enrollment process would be conducted transparently to maintain credibility and inclusivity.

The meeting was attended by District Welfare Officer  Shankaracharya Samad, District Planning Officer  Mrityunjay Kumar, District Education Officer  Manoj Kumar, District Education Superintendent  Ashish Pandey, along with principals, wardens, and other stakeholders of residential schools.
