Jamshedpur, February 28: Jamshedpur is gearing up to celebrate the 186th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the visionary founder of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur, on March 3, 2025.

Final preparations are underway, with a focus on commemorating Founder’s Day on the theme ‘Leadership in Market, Technology and Cost’.

The celebrations will feature the illumination of over 40 significant sites across Jamshedpur, including heritage buildings, parks, and roundabouts. The use of colourful lights as a key part of the celebrations will be a welcome reminder to citizens and visitors of the beauty of the city, this information was jointly provided in a press meet at CFE on Friday by Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary, Tata Steel UISL MD Rituraj Sinha, and GM RK Singh.

They informed that various activities are planned for Founder’s Day 2025, including homage programmes at Jubilee Park, Jamshedpur Works and Postal Park, sports events.

RK Singh said that Jubilee Park’s mesmerizing lighting display will be accessible to the public from March 3 to March 5.

Spectators can enjoy the illuminated scenery from 5 pm to 10 pm. Additionally, from 10 pm to 11 pm, the captivating lighting can be experienced through vehicles, providing a unique viewing opportunity for visitors.  Laser Show will be operational from March 3-5 at Jubilee Park.

Along with Jubilee Park four other parks including Dorabji Tata Park, Postal Park, Birsa Munda Park, and Centenary Park (Tinplate) have also been illuminated, Singh added.

Rangoli to pay tribute to Ratan Tata

Ritu Raj Sinha informed that Rangoli will be designed opposite JN Tata statue to pay tribute to former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata who passed away on October 9, 2024.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel informed that on the occasion of Founders day city will get several new facilities including Stroke unit and spine clinic at TMH which will open on March 4 while MTMH upgraded hospital will get OT.

New Prem Jyoti Prangan School 

Prem Jyoti Prangan School beside BSNL Office, Phalgu Road, Northern Town, will be inaugurated with Modern Infrastructure by East Singhbhum DC Ananya Mittal on March 1. Chanakya Chaudhary and Ruchi Narendran, Managing Trustee JEM Foundation will also be present.  Tata Steel Foundation has funded the construction of a new building for Prem Jyoti Prangan School, offering a modern and sustainable learning environment.

Pet Crematorium

Chaudhary further said that pet crematorium will be inaugurated near Kennel Club in Jubilee Park on March 1.

Pet Crematorium will be inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel in presence of Ruchi Narendran.

Chanakya Chaudhary said that N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons will pay homage to the Founder on March 2, 2025 at Jubilee Park by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons on March 2, 2025. Chairman will also switch on the illumination inside the Jubilee Park on March 2. He will also pay homage to founder inside Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works on March 3, 2025 and at Postal Park, Bistupur on March 3.

The Founder`s Day celebrations at Jamshedpur Works will also be live streamed for employees.

Postal Park

Chairman Tata Sons to pay homage to the Founder at Bistupur Postal Park on March 3. Pageantry parade by the social organisations which has been a regular affair during Founder’s Day has been discontinued this year, informed Chanakya Chaudhary.

Security arrangements strengthened for public safety

RK Singh informed that a security helpdesk has been set up with ambulances stationed at the Statue Area and Lake Turn for medical assistance. Watchtowers and help desks are placed at key locations, with public address systems for lost and found coordination. Around 200 police officials and 150 security volunteers will manage pedestrian movement, supported by CCTV surveillance and metal detectors.

Founder’s Day Sports 2025 is scheduled this year for two days on March 2 & 3 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex between 8am-5pm.

1. Inauguration of New Prem Jyoti Prangan Schoolwith Modern Infrastructure on March 1, 2025. Tata Steel Foundation has funded the construction of a new building for Prem Jyoti Prangan School, offering a modern and sustainable learning environment.
2. The first Pet Crematoriumof Jamshedpur will be inaugurated on March 1, 2025. Tata Steel has funded the establishment providing dignified and environmentally responsible solution for pet owners, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and structured method for the disposal of pet remains.
3. Homage to the Founder at Jubilee Parkby N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons on March 2, 2025.  Park shall be opened for citizens from March 3-5.
4. Founder’s Day Celebrations at Tata Steel Jamshedpur Workson March 3, 2025
5. Founder’s Day Programme at Postal Park, Bistupur on March 3, 2025
6. Spine Clinic inaugurationon 4th March 2025. Spine Clinic is a dedicated multi-speciality clinic designed for the comprehensive management of complex spinal problems.
7. In addition to the Spine Clinic, Stroke Unit inaugurationwill also be done on 4th March 2025. TMH is excited to open the Stroke Unit, dedicated to the rapid assessment and treatment of stroke patients.

Founder’s Day Sports

The Founder’s Day Sports 2025 is scheduled this year for two days on March 2 & 3 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex between 8am-5pm.

This event will bring together approximately 350 participants engaging in 31 diverse events, including activities for transpersons, specially-abled children, corporate executives, Union Committee Members from group companies, training centres, feeder centres, and academies.

CEO&MD will be the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony. For the engagement of Senior officials, events like Tug-of War and Corporate 50 M*8 Relay, Golf putting & Arrow shooting have been arranged.

On March 3, Best Sportsperson of the year, Sir Jehangir Gandhy Challenge Cup, Lady Jehangir Gandhy Challenge Cup, Best Athlete -Training Centres & Winner Team of ID events will be felicitated.

For the Closing Ceremony, a March Past will be conducted by the trainees of all training centres and academies, accompanied by the band from Prem Jyoti School.
