Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajeev Ranjan chaired a high-level review meeting at the Auditorium to evaluate the progress of various development departments. The session focused on the Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperative sectors, emphasizing timely execution and inter-departmental coordination.
Kharif Season and Agricultural Readiness
With the Kharif season approaching, the DC issued several directives to support the farming community:

Seed and Fertilizer Supply: The Agriculture Department must ensure the timely distribution of quality seeds and maintain an adequate supply of fertilizers.

Modernization: Officials were tasked with promoting farm mechanization and the effective use of soil health cards to encourage modern farming practices.

Water Conservation: The Parks and Land Conservation departments will prioritize micro-irrigation techniques (drip and sprinkler systems) and the construction of water harvesting structures to combat soil erosion and boost productivity.
Livestock and Fisheries Development

Livestock Distribution: Under the Chief Minister’s Livestock Development Scheme (2025-26), officials must complete the distribution of cows, goats, pigs, and poultry within 10 days.

Insurance Mandate: All livestock must be insured prior to distribution to ensure farmers receive timely compensation in case of loss.

Fisheries Expansion: The Fisheries Department was instructed to maximize the use of local water bodies and provide technical training to fishery cooperatives to boost production.
Economic and Livelihood Strengthening

Market Revenue: The Market Committee must submit five years of revenue data from haat markets to identify growth trends and corrective measures.

Paddy Procurement: The Cooperative Department will coordinate with rice millers to expedite the lifting of paddy from LAMPS and ensure farmers receive timely payments.

Self-Help Groups (SHGs): The Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) was directed to link SHGs with sustainable self-employment opportunities and strengthen bank linkages for rural empowerment.
The Deputy Commissioner concluded the meeting by mandating weekly progress reviews, warning that no negligence in the implementation of these schemes would be tolerated.
