Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi inspected the vegetable farming cluster at Devli village under Gohla Panchayat in Musabani block. The cluster, supported by JSLPS, is helping local farmers enhance their income through vegetable cultivation, pulse farming, and livestock rearing.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted directly with farmers to understand their challenges and requirements. Farmers informed him that along with vegetable production, they also cultivate pulses like arhar and moong. However, due to the lack of processing facilities, they fail to secure fair market value. They demanded the provision of pulse processing machines and equipment. In response, Satyarthi assured them that necessary steps would be taken to set up local processing units, enabling farmers to earn better income.
He also advised the farmers to form Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) so they could collectively access government schemes, subsidies, and training opportunities. Discussions were held on technical support, improved seeds, organic farming, and marketing prospects. The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to conduct regular training sessions for farmers to introduce modern technology and scientific methods in farming, thereby increasing productivity. He also emphasized the need to connect vegetable and pulse production with organized marketing channels.
Present on the occasion were District Planning Officer in-charge Sudipta Raj, Musabani BDO Aditi Gupta, JSLPS DPM Sujit Bari, along with other departmental officials.
