Jamshedpur: DC holds meeting with Maulavis and Imams ahead of Ramnavami

Orders completion of immersion procession by 8 pm

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar sought the cooperation of all communities in ensuring peaceful conduct of Ramnavami procession in the city. He convened a meeting with the Imams and Maulavis of the city to seek their suggestions and support for the upcoming festival.

Addressing the meeting held at the Jamshedpur Collectorate auditorium, the DC said the district administration had made elaborate security arrangements in all parts of the city for the Ramnavami procession. He said the immersion procession should be completed by 8 pm on the day fixed for the purpose.

He said the administration would implement various suggestions made by the peace committee members and community leaders. He appealed to all citizens to all akhara committee members, volunteers and citizens in general to ensure discipline and harmony during the immersion procession.

Kumar asked all participants to inform the police in case they come to know of any untoward incident or rumour. He said no one should act on the spur of the moment.
During the meeting, some Imams and Maulavis demanded installation of CCTV cameras and illumination facility at certain sensitive places in the city. Demand for videography and identity cards for akhara volunteers was also raised at the meeting.
