Jamshedpur DC for intensive raid to curb illegal mining, transportation

Jamshedpur, October 6:. There should not be any illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals in the district which may cause loss of revenue to the state government. The Mining Task Force team should conduct intensive raids to curb illegal mineral trade.
This directive was issued by Deputy Commissioner East Singhbhum Manjunath Bhajantri during the meeting of district mining task force at the district collectorate on Friday.
While reviewing the action taken against illegal mining, transportation and storage,
The district mining officer, Sanjay Sharma said that in this financial year, 43 actions were taken in which 24 FIRs have been registered and a fine of Rs 14 lakh, 28 thousand has been collected.
The Deputy Commissioner termed the above action as inadequate and directed the Mining Task Force to increase the intensity. He said that special vigilance is needed to stop illegal transportation of sand on the interstate border of West Bengal and Odisha.
Forest Department, Mining Department, circle officers and concerned police station in-charge should take responsibility to stop illegal mineral trade, strengthen intelligence and ensure prompt action on any information. The Mining Task Force was directed to work in a planned manner with the aim of completely stopping illegal mining.
The deputy commissioner said that once the culprits are caught, an FIR should be lodged immediately.
It was also directed to create nine temporary checkposts in the district which will be equipped with CCTV.
The District Transport Officer was asked to take action regarding overloading.
In the meeting, the mining officer told that the tractors involved in illegal transportation do not have number plates, on this the District Transport Officer was asked to hold a meeting with the tractor operators and instruct the operators to compulsorily install number plates in the engine and trailer of the tractor.
Factory inspectors were directed to monitor the health and safety of workers by conducting regular inspection campaigns at crusher plants.
The mining officer was directed to soon float a tender for setting up a PMU cell in the mining department.
