Jamshedpur, Oct 6: Steel city advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu today said Jharkhand High Court should take cognizance over the recent deaths of 25 children at Tata Main Hospital.

According to him, only an inquiry on the deaths (of children). will not be enough, things have to be probed thoroughly..Pappu alleged that TMH has always been controversial on matters related to to expensive facilities, admission of private and company employees and alleged mis-conduct of the doctors. “But deaths of 25 children at TMH in September 2023 is shocking and worrying,” he added.

The lawyer also alleged that the TMH hid the number of deaths (of children). “The bereaved families of the children would have become alert and some lives could have been saved had TMH released the death figures daily,” Pappu said

He further alleged that TMH or Tata Steel does not come under purview of RTI, meaning that the public cannot raise questions nor the company is forced to reply..

Pappu wondered why the state government and health minister were mum on the matter
