Magistrates, DSPs, flying squads and static teams learn about cVIGIL

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Amit Kumar and SSP Anoop Birtharay Friday convened a joint meeting to chalk out strategy for ensuring transparency in upcoming Lok Sabha elections and strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.
Addressing the participants, who included all executive magistrates, DSPs and members of flying squads and static surveillance teams, the DC said Election Commission had launched cVIGIL app to ensure transparency in elections. The said app was successfully used in the Assembly elections held in five states recently, he said, adding further that any person can complain about Model Code violation through this app and that action would be taken within 100 minutes.
Kumar asked all district administration officials to keep a close watch on Model Code violation in their areas. He asked the assistant excise commissioner and other officials to conduct raids against illicit liquor trade. He directed the flying squads and static surveillance teams to coordinate with each other and take prompt action against violators of Model Code.
The DC said action should be taken against those found carrying cash above Rs 50,000 in case they fail to give satisfactory answers. All banks have been asked to inform the administration about heavy transactions.
Kuma said Section 144 was in force in Dhalbhum and Ghatsila sub divisions in view of elections and hence legal action would be taken against those defying prohibitory orders.
