Jamshedpur: Cyber frauds dupe Rs 1.39 lakh through download of app

Jamshedpur, Oct 23: New exploits of cyber thugs are coming to the fore in Jamshedpur city. The thugs withdrew Rs 1.39 lakh from the account of Umendra Narayan Jha, a resident of Rahargora under Parsudih police station area. An FIR has been lodged in Bistupur Cyber Police Station.

In  complaint it is stated that the victim had a bank account in Punjab National Bank, Golmuri with a registered Mobile number 8051018050. Last Tuesday, a call came on his mobile number from mobile number 7449753933. The callers posed as an employee of the ATM card office and said that the debit card has expired and that bank account will be closed if not updated.

The called asked for downloading the Quick Support app on mobile and also fraudulently took his ID. After a while, a message came about the withdrawal of  Rs 20,000, Rs 20 thousand, Rs 51,423, Rs 41,253 and Rs 6325 rupees from the bank account. A total of Rs 1 lakh 39 lakh was withdrawn.

Earlier on October 16, cyber thugs had withdrawn Rs 4 lakh 45 thousand from the account of RPF constable Santosh Kumar Yadav by downloading Any Desk app. On his complaint, an FIR has been registered against the holder of mobile phone number 9883319761 in the cyber police station.
