Jamshedpur, November 24: Strict action will be taken against the culprits responsible for causing death of five elephants due to electrocution in Musabani recently. Those found guilty after investigation will not be spared.
Kolhan Commissioner Manoj Kumar said these things in the ‘Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ program organized in Jamshedpur block. He told that a review meeting has been called in Chaibasa on Tuesday regarding this matter. Forest department and electricity department officials will be present in it. In the meeting, the reasons for the incident and a strategy will be made to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
The Commissioner said that there has been a significant reduction in Naxalite incidents in Kolhan.
There never used to be a single electricity pole in Jamro of West Singhbhum. The people there were not able to get any kind of benefit. But last year the administration organized camps there and provided benefits of government schemes to the people.
Naxalites are still active in some areas, a campaign is being conducted by the security forces to completely eliminate them. The government’s effort is to ensure that more and more people get the benefits of government schemes.
On the incident of IED blast, he said that the government is very serious on this and it will be curbed in the coming new year.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife Kulwant Singh has expressed strong displeasure over the death of seven elephants in East Singhbhum district. He said that the death of elephants is a serious crime. In this case, guilty electricity department officials will not be spared.
Elephants have died due to the negligence of the electricity department. He said that the Government of India has clear guidelines regarding the height of wires. This height is low at many places in the district. Under the Wildlife Act, a case has been filed against the guilty officials of the electricity department.
He said that the Forest Department had corresponded several times with the Electricity Department in this regard. No action was taken on this. As a result, the first two elephants died. Again five elephants have died.
PCCF has asked to fix the height of electric wires in the areas of elephant movement in the entire Kolhan. The complete list has been submitted to the Electricity Department. Detailed information about this has been given.
He said that trenches have been dug by Bengal in the movement areas. This matter has been raised before the Central Government. Coordination work is being done on the initiative of the Central Government between the states of Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. A separate action plan is being prepared.
