Jamshedpur Crime: Two arrested for ATM fraud in Jugsalai

Jamshedpur, May 27: Sakchi police arrested two persons for allegedly changing the ATM card of an old woman and later using the same to purchase gold here on Friday.

The accused were identified as Gayasuddin Malik and Mohammad Javed alias Mohammad Arif Patni, both residents of Thane, Maharashtra.

According to police, the two were caught while checking out from Hotel Ashoka in Jugsalai. A police team led by the officer in-charge of Sakchi police station, Rajesh Kumar Singh, reached the hotel just in time. On Seeing police, the accused duo started running but were arrested after a chase.

The accused persons had checked in at the Jugsalai hotel on 24th May. On 25th May last, they one Om Prabhakar of Baridih had gone to the SBI ATM kiosk in Sakchi to withdraw money. Just then, the accused persons, wearing fake I-cards of SBI approached them and guising as SBI staff offered to help him. The two took Prakhakar’s ATM and handed him another ATM of same colour. Later, on the same day, the accused went to Chandra Jewelers and purchased gold by using the same ATM card. Police have got a footage showing the two at the jewelry shop, said officials.
