Jamshedpur: Sonari police here booked nine persons for allegedly demanding extortion money from one Dheeraj Singh of Gwala Basti. One of the accused is Priya Singh alias Chatni Don, accused of several crimes in the area, officials said.
Police said Priya and his associates barged into the house of Dheeraj Singh on Friday evening and started abusing him. All accused persons beat up Dheeraj and demanded extortion money from him. They threatened him of dire consequences in case he fails to pay up, cops said.
Police had earlier arrested Priya on 8th February last in another case. Priya had tried to slit her throat and wrist in an apparent attempt to commit suicide when taken to MGM Hospital for medical examination. She was accused of snatching, loot, assault and violence in separate cases. She and her associates were also accused of robbing truck drivers in Marine Drive area, sources said.
