Jamshedpur, May 25: A 75 year-old woman, Parvati Devi, and her son Chandrashekhar Singh of Kasidih, Sakchi, have lodged an FIR against the two brothers of BJP leader Abhay Singh for allegedly demanding extortion money of Rs 10 lakh from them.

In the police complaint registered by Sakchi police, the complainants said the accused persons, Dilip Singh and Nirbhay Singh, had demanded either one flat in their under-construction building or Rs 10 lakh in cash for allowing them to continue construction work. The accused persons also misbehaved with the two and beat them up. They also beat up contract workers at the construction site, forcing them to flee, said the complainants.

The complainants, residents of Holding No 255 in Kasidih Line No 9 at Sakchi, said they were living in the said building for generations. “We are constructing a new building in place of the old one. When the news reached Nirbhay and Dilip, they demanded extortion money from us,” they said.

Chandrashekhar said he had complained to Sakchi police earlier, but no action was taken against the accused persons. He said the entire incident was captured in CCTV footage which should be investigated by the police.

Meanwhile, Abhay Singh claimed he and his brothers had supplied brick, sand and stone chips to the contractor employed by Chandrashekhar and his mother. He also said that he had booked a flat in the said building. The builder did not pay for the building material and also gave the flat booked by him to someone else, he said, adding that the allegations of demanding extortion money and assault were baseless.
